Released in 2013, the Nintendo 2DS system was a stripped-down version of the 3DS - it had all of the features of a normal 3DS system, but did not include the option to switch to 3D. Regular 2DS models also lacked the 3DS' "clamshell" design. The 2DS model was one of the last variations of the 3DS to be produced until its discontinuation in 2020.
